We rented the house for one week for €2,500, but unfortunately the value for money was very disappointing. The house is spacious and the description is mostly accurate, but the facilities and maintenance left a lot to be desired.

Cons:
- Poor kitchenware (not even wine glasses in a famous wine region).
- No comfortable outdoor area, just a muddy patch of ground.
- Mosquito doors did not work properly and often fell out.
- No dishwasher.
- Swimming pool not clean and the upstairs not properly cleaned.
- Worn-out cookware.
- Shower kept overflowing, with cheap plastic curtains and
- Showerhead fixed with duct tape and zip ties.
-Parasols also held together with duct tape.
- Beds not comfortable.
- Extra charges for bed linen and use of the washing machine (feels more like camping than a holiday home).

Roberto and Sara are very kind people and they run a great place to rent bikes, but unfortunately they were not present during our stay.

We have stayed in other houses in Italy for half the price, where everything was perfectly in order. Here it felt like everything was just not quite right, and it was definitely not worth the high price. A shame, because the location and potential are there.

We stayed at Giglio Dorato from 3 to 6 April 2025.
The accommodation has a large living room with kitchenette, bathroom with shower and bedroom with comfortable bed (this is not a given)
Sara and Roberto are a young couple who welcomed us as if we were family.
They are very discreet with their two well-behaved children. My little dog had fun playing ball with them.
Sara proved to be very helpful and helped us organize trips in the area.
Roberto is an expert tour operator, he organizes mountain bike trips on the beautiful white roads, he also told us interesting historical anecdotes that happened in Castiglion Fiorentino in medieval times.
I thank this wonderful family, if it happens we will more than willingly return.

Outside the town centre, some noise from nearby businesses and the train in the distance - but it never disturbs. Excellent spaces for the family

The structure consists of 3 buildings which are welcome one group of family and friends: 
Villa and 2 Dependances. Villa and each dependance set into the hill facing the sunset view and each have their own private out door eating area, sun loungers and umbrella. All the rooms are decorated in a rustic, but elegant style in harmony with the age of the villa and its location, there are many antique pieces through out.

Interior description:
Villa Serena (6 guests) 180m²
First floor: living room with dining area and fire place, kitchen, bathroom with tub.
Second floor: 3 bedrooms with comfortable double beds, 2 private bathrooms with shower, one bathroom has a bath tub. In all bedrooms there is an infinity view to the Valley Valdichiana and also view to the beautiful garden and pool.

Dependance Serenella (2+2guests) 65m²
One floor: kitchen, dining zone, living room with sofa, bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower.

Dependance Fontanella (2+2 guests) 50m²
One floor: kitchen, dining zone, living room with sofa, bedroom with double bed, bathroom with shower. This is one of the most requested Accommodations on our site.

When you arrive at Villa Serena, surrounded by green olive trees and with a breathtaking view of the plain below Cortona, you realize how much beauty surrounds you; you just have to know how to appreciate it. The villa, tastefully furnished with old-world style, is an excellent property: clean, warm, and welcoming, with everything you need and truly everything you need; you feel right at home. The garden and surrounding park are enjoyable even in summer and offer unforgettable views. Great location. Stunning views over the valley. Beautiful Cortona within walking distance.
Beautifully furnished apartment with Italian furniture. Lovely garden with a small pool that you only share with a maximum of eight other guests. Highly recommended. Exceeded expectations!
